Stopping Diabetes Before It Happens (15 July 2005)

Our knowledge base about the diabetes epidemic is expanding rapidly. You don't have to keep track; that's my job. But we'll be intervening earlier, at the stage where fasting sugar is just starting to rise, to prevent overt disease. Here's a surprise: 30 minutes of moderate exercise 6 times a week reduces the incidence of diabetes in prediabetics by 58%. I told you so.
